Map shows boundaries of the province, townships and sections. Census districts are named and sub-divisions are numbered (and outlined) in red. Railways are shown and named. Manuscript features on the map consist of "Posen", "Sprague" and "E. Selkirk" handwritten on the left border, and some addition at the top border. The date 1905 has been supplied to the map for several reasons. The Brandon to Portage la Prairie line of the Canadian Northern Railway, which appears on the map, was opened in 1905; the Canadian Pacific line from Teulon to Komarno, built in 1907 and the Candian Northern Railway line from Glendale to Beulah, built in 1908, do not appear. In addition, a census of population and agriculture was held on the Prairies in 1905 because of the creation of the new provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
