This plan of the Market Battery was drawn during the construction of the battery in 1848 and served to show how it was constructed. The front elevation shows the wall and principal battery buildings. The plan is colour coded with an explanation of the colours in the upper left corner. The sections of wall taken at particular places again serve to illustrate the construction technique and the materials used. The Battery was completed in 1848 and was a Kingston landmark until the late 1870's when it was demolished and made into a park. Part of the wall can still be seen in Battery Park.
