This film is about the continent of South America, its rivers, mountains and climate conditions. Special attention is paid to the Amazon, the largest river in the world, surface relief, the two Trade Winds blowing into the Amazon valley bringing moisture from the Atlantic, condensation around the foothills of the Andes, tributaries filling up and water running into the main stream, the comparative sizes of North America and South America, the length and breadth of South America as covered by an airplane at 150 miles per hour, the different climatic conditions governing the general vegetation of the continent outside the Amazon valley, the effect of the South East Trade Wind on the eastern coast, the coffee region of Brazil, the climatic conditions governing the vegetation of Argentina, its Pampas and characteristic scenery and industries, a trip around Cape Horn showing scenery, Chile and its climate and industries, the 2,000-mile desert on the Western coast and its causes, and the irrigation region of Peru in comparison with that of California.
