This double hemisphere map includes California depicted as an Island, a partial coastline for Australia and New Zealand, no land bridge to Asia from North America, small straits of Anian, and no Great Lakes. The map is surrounded by hand coloured allegorical scenes of Zeus, Poseidon, Persephone and Demeter.The map also includes the dedication to Charles the Second and hearldic inclusions at the lower center of the map.

Copperplate engraving.
"1" appears in bottom right corner.
This map is a copy of the second state based on the appearance of the Royal coat of Arms and the dedication to Charles II."Serenissimo Potentissimoque Domino, Domino Carolo Secundo, Magnae Britannia, Franciae et Hiberniae Regi, Defensori Fidei, Hanc tabulum totius Orbis. D. D. D."
Map first appeared in Van Loon's " Klaer Lichtende Noort-Ster ofte Zee Atlas" in 1661. This state of the map was used in Moses Pitt's volume 1 of his "English Atlas " in 1680.

On verso: adhesive tape long upper right and left corner of map.
