The map depicts the area north of Winter Island and the Hoppner Strait in western portion of Foxe Basin. Foxe Basin is part of the Quiakqtaaluk region of what is now Nunavut. The original map was drawn by Iligliuk, a woman, at the request of Captain George Francis Lyon and Captain William Edward Parry. Iligliuk is Inuk. The map shows the location of animals (including seals, fish and whales), minerals, and tracks used by Inuit. There are also notes about the geography. This print of the map was printed by C. Hullmandel's Lithography.
