Since 1951, there have been continuing public demands for more and more theatre. Some senior citizens give recollections of professional troupes which came to St. John’s more than 50 years ago and recall that that amateur players were well organized and very active from the turn of the century. A survey is also made of Corner Brook, Gander and Grand Falls, where amateur groups have been very active for the past six years and more recently have taken part in the Dominion Drama Festival. A spokesperson for these groups describes the plans they have for this year’s regional festival. <30mn>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
