General note:

Enclosed in Governor Simpson to Newcastle of Feb. 27, 1854. Used to illustrate Simpson's contention that the Navigable channel was from the south end of the Gulf of Georgia and not the "Canal de Arro".
Shows the navigable channel for ships in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, running nearly due east & west. Illustrates the difficulty by showing the islands west of the Dulf of georgia in an unfinished state as seen by Vancouver.
