This map of Canada shows and names lakes, rivers, forts, towns and other features. The locations of Indian tribes are also given. Unfortunately, while the map is accurate in what it shows, it neglects a tremendous amount of information that was available circa 1850 and that should have been included. The boundary issue affecting the Oregon country was settled in 1846, however, on this map that area is still shown as being a part of British North America. It is highly probable therefore, that Gall & Inglis, who began publishing sometime in the early 1850's simply used an earlier map, possibly one of John Cary's, and failed to make the necessary corrections. Information concerning the atlases and maps published by Gall & Inglis is scarce and as a result the atlas in which this map was bound has not been determined.
