This map shows the british provinces in North America from Newfoundland to the western part of present day Ontario. The United States and the northern parts of the british possessions have been left blank. A text around the border of the map describes each province, giving statistical data up to 1815. This map was first published in: A Complete Historical, Chronological and Geographical American Atlas, fol. Philadelphia, 1822, no. 4, by H.C. Carey & I. Lea. The map described above was published in the 1823 ed. of the American Atlas held by the N.M.C. The N.M.C. also holds a very similar loose sheet map that was probably published in the [1827] ed. of the same atlas. A French translation of the original 1822 english map is also in the Collection.
