This map of the Arctic coast from Darnley Bay to Bathurst Inlet, was drawn by two members of the Geological Survey who were present on the Canadian Expedition of 1913-1918. Chapman and Cox were apparently members of the southern party, which mapped and explored the Arctic coast. The southern party of the expedition was recalled in 1916, three years ahead of schedule, because of the World War. Thus the 1913-1918 expedition really only lasted until 1916. There is also another map supposedly by the same authors, which was based on these early maps. The map, published in 1923, see: 800/1823, incorporates much of the geologic and scientific information gathered during the expedition. The early maps are interesting since they give both English and Eskimo names to land features. In most cases these native names have been long since forgotten.
