General note:

This map shows steamship routes, rapids, navigational notes and a few timber slides and booms along a section of the Ottawa River near Allumette Island. Lots and concessions, settlements, roads and some physical features on both sides of the river are shown. The only building indicated is "Yankee Brown's Tavern", in Westmeath Township near Beachburg. Construction of the locks at L'islet (shown on map) began in 1873 (See Note 1).
