The guest conductor and cello soloist is Antonio Janigro. The concert begins with a work for solo cello and orchestra by Antonio Vivaldi. Antonio Janigro plays the dual role of soloist-conductor in Vivaldi's Concerto in D major for Cello and Orchestra. The program continues with Mozart's Symphony No. 27 in G major, Kochel No. 199, in three movements: Allegro; Andanto grazioso; and Presto. Erick Friesen interviews Antonio Janigro about Janigro's long association with cellist Pablo Casals. The concert concludes with Paul Hindemith's Trauermusik, also known as Funeral Music. This work was begun the day after the death of King George V of England in 1936 and performed the following evening.
