The original of this map is in the Public Record office, Keiv (U.K.) Penfold No. 2541 Date provided by D. Heldman, Archaeology, Machinac Island State Park Commission.
Le plan est divisé en deux parties. L'une montre le fort en détail. A l'intérieur de l'enceinte on voit les édifices qui sont listés en légende. Une note presque illisible dit "Plan of the [Montreal-Murdered?] Garrison of Michillimakinac". Après, on ajoute la position astronomique du fort. L'autre partie de la carte montre le fort sur la pointe de terre, sur la rive sud du détroit de Mackinac, où les lacs Michigan et Huron se rencontrent.
From Penfold: 2541. Mackinac, Straits of [?between 1761 and 1769] 'A Sketch of the Confluence or Streigts between the lakes Huron and Michigan &c.' Shows routes by water. Inset 'Plan of the Stockaid Garrison of Michilimakinac'. (Now part of Mackinaw City) to a scale of 80 feet to an inch. MS. 100 perches to a scale of an inch. Reference table to buildings. 1 ft. 6.9 in. x 2 ft. The fort was taken by the British in 1761 but the plan does not show the soldiers' barracks said to have been built in 1769. C.O.700 North American Colonies General no.2
