"Map shows the development of Canada West to the middle of the nineteenth century. Townships, settlements, rivers etc. are all named, principal roads and canals are shown. Topography is indicated by means of hachuring. Colouring is used to indicate the major administrative districts. Longitude is measured from Washington. The map first appeared in Mitchell's: A New Universal Atlas...1849. The NMC has the atlas copy of the map."
