Notation reads: In Simcoe's Despatch No. 24 to Duke of Portland [Home Secretary] of 29 July 1795. Vol. 281. U. Canada; Only eastern Ontario and the Lake Ontario, Niagara Peninsula and Lake Erie regions as yet divided into counties. Name "Thunder Bay" applied to Owen Sound; Georgian Bay nameless. A second copy - a transcript measuring 64 x 123 cm. - was made in January 1910 by J.H. Brigly from an original in the Colonial Office London. The notation on this copy reads "Endorsed. Canada Upper. Case 37 No. 53. [1793] Canada No. 59 [Dup.]" The third of these is the printed facsimile of Brigly's transcript produced for: Public Archives.
