Notes from former catalogue: "The map shows the central part of Montreal as it appeared in 1853. Streets are shown and named and the various city wards are indicated. Buildings are blocked in and identified by numeric and alphabetical legends. The latter legend refers to churches while the numeric index points out commercial buildings and colleges. A note at the bottom of the map gives the latitude and longtitude of the city as well as the population figure of 57,715, based on the 1852 census. The Collection holds another copy of this map and 2 photographs (See Note 1)."
