"A well drawn descriptive map of the city of Quebec. An alphabetical legend describes buildings, fortifications and other points of interest. The map was first published in 1771 by J. Andrews and was included circa 1792 in two atlases; A Collection of Plans of the Most Capital Cities of Every Empire... pl. 40; and in Plans of the Principle Cities of the World... pl. 40. The maps that appeared in these atlases bore the date 1771 the author's name and the plate number XL. The map under discussion does not bear any of the above features, however, close examination shows that both editions are from the same plate. The map described was printed in 1799 for Isaac Weld's: Travels Through the States of North America ..., 8o London 1800, V. 1. p. 342. The Collection holds a copy of the map in its original state bearing the author's name, the date and the plate number (See Note 1)."
