General note:

This map is a relatively recent transcript of a plan of Quebec which itself was based upon a Bellin plan. The LAC holds two copies of the intermediate map which were prepared by the British military prior to 1759. These plans are much more detailed than the map being described here, and should be consulted in preference to this one. The Bellin plan itself was based upon a plan by Chaussegros de Léry dating 1720.
