First part of a drama. On the street of a town, a young woman named Columbine is being courted by an older man, but she is obviously not interested. He offers her flowers, which she throws on the ground, but he continues to insist. Pierrot appears in the background and witnesses the situation. He rushes in and stands between them, looking defiantly at the suitor. The old man backs down and leaves. Pierrot now starts to woo Columbine. She is cool at first but soon begins to warm to him. He buys her a bouquet of flowers. This pleases her immensely and they leave together. They stroll out into the countryside. The suitor follows and discovers them in the grass. He pursues them but they manage to elude him and return to town. An intertitle announces that "Pierre and Columbine swear to love each other as long as the flowers shall last." They enter an apartment and place the flowers in a vase on a table and then retire. Pierrot returns later to find the flowers wilted. Dismayed, he takes them and leaves. Columbine returns to find the flowers missing.
