Collection search - Ottawa water: map of pipe line, Ottawa to Lake Pemichangaw [cartographic material]

This map shows the routes of a proposed pipe line and an alternative pipe line for water running north form the old pumping station at Wellington and Commissioner Streets in Ottawa, following the Gatineau River Valley to Lake Pemichangaw, about 50 miles north of Ottawa. Several printed dates appear on the map. The most recent of which is 1913. The supplied map was probably prepared by a City of Ottawa engineering office. The topography of the route is indicated, as are buildings and railway lines. According to officials of the Water Supply Division of the Regional Government (telephone conversation, July 16, 73) this pipe was never built. In the front of the binder are manuscript engineer's notes regarding a proposed filtration plant at Lemieux Island.
