The map is a transcript from another map held by the LAC. The original contains detail lacking in the transcript. On the original, it is stated that settlement is shown on the River St. John as of October 1839. The "report" referred to in the notes on the map is [Baille, Thos.] Supplementary report ont he Boundary Line between Canada and New Brunswick according to the Royal Proclamation of 1763, and the Quebec Act of 1774. (Journals of the House of Assembly of N.B., 1845.) Authorship of the map has been determined from the original.
