This map is one of three maps of Halifax produced by the McAlpine Publishing Co. and drawn from information compiled by City Engineer F. Doane at the turn of the century. Obvious differences between the three maps can be found, most notably size and illustrations, however, all seem to have been drawn from the same base map (it is possible that the plans were photographically altered prior to printing). The map shows ward boundaries, streets, railways, dock yards, and street railways. Major buildings are blocked in and many are identified by a "Table of Reference". This map has been dated [1902] as it was probably produced prior to the map wiht illustrations of major buildings which has been dated [1903]. The bar scale must be used with caution since the 500 ft. point should read 600 ft.
