Notes from former database:
"Drawn in 1747 this map of Cape Breton Island was published in the July edition of the: London Magazine. Bays harbours, ports, rivers and villages are shown and named. The map was drawn shortly after the English conquest of Louisbourg in 1745. The island and the fort were returned to France in 1748. J.N. Bellin drew an almost identical, though larger map of the island in 1744 and it is assumed the Kitchin map is a reduced copy."
