Notes from former database: "These maps show Quebec as it was at the time of the Conquest. The use of French names, title, and scale indicates the map may have been originally French, although the English names for the rivers and the "B.O." stamp suggests the map was copied by the British after 1759. The map shows the city with the walls and the immediate surrounding area. Buildings and fortifications are drawn and named in an index. Streets are named in French. Many of the maps produced circa 1759 fail to show the development of the town in the years preceding 1759. This map does show that growth, particularly the development of the suburb of St. Roch and the completed bastions of Ste Ursule, St. Jean, and du Coteau de la Potasse. The outer wall of the fortifications shown here was not completed until after 1800 but it was in the planning stages as early as 1760, thus explaining why the wall appears on this map. The second copy bears the information, "Copied by G. Williams, Feby. 6, 1810." Both copies bear the Holmden number C809, and the code B.19.F.64. in the lower right. Both have the "B.O." stamp."
