This reproduction of Rex Woods's 1962 oil painting depicts delegates from Canada East and Canada West arriving on the "Queen Victoria" for a meeting with representatives from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. This event took place on September 1, 1864 in Charlottestown.

This work is a colour offset lithograph from a set entitled, "Gallery of Canadian History," Portfolio # 1, produced by the Confederation Life Association. Rex Woods was one of several painters commissioned by Confederation Life to produce works documenting pivotal moments in the development of Canada. A number of these paintings appeared on calendars issued by Confederation Life, as well as being reproduced as offset lithographs for a Centennial project entitled, "Canadian Historical Prints from the Confederation Life Collection."
