The inventory of photographs from acquisition 1981-101 (see photo acquisition file 1981-101 or art acquisition file 1976-89) contains the following note for negative number C-94804: "'Tableau Papa Manoir 1865?' note d'Augustine Bourassa." ("'Dad's painting Manor 1865?' note by Augustine Bourassa).

Negative numbers C-115754 and C-94804 are b&w reproductions of a photograph of this painting. The image includes what seems to be the original frame, which no longer accompanies the work.

Dates of creation note:
The date of creation is based on Augustine Bourassa's note for a photograph of the painting, negative number C-94804. The date is also based on observations made by Mario Béland, Curator of historic art from 1850 to 1900 at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, in the catalogue for the exhitibion Napoléon Bourassa, la quête de l'idéal (MnbaQ, 2011-2012): "... à la fin de juillet 1862, le seigneur de Petite-Nation raconte à son fils Amédée que Bourassa 'a pris une vue de Montebello, en se plaçant près de l'embouchure du ruisseau et en prend une seconde en se plaçant sur l'île Viger'. On ne sait si ces vues peuvent correspondre à deux paysages de petit format qui semblent être pris à peu près du même site, en contrebas du domaine, mais dans des directions opposées, l'un et l'autre avec des bovins."
