This watercolour was originally attached back-to-back with another watercolour tilted: "The Battle of St. Charles" by Edward Adams Clark. It was erroneoulsy referred to as the verso of this last work on the I-list of the file 705-1860. Sylistically and by evidence of an inscription appearing on an original label (now unlocated) it can be surmised that both works are by the artist Edward Adams Clark. This watercolour bears two ghost images where the original label was formerly attached to the recto at the right and left sides.

In 1986 Conservation slides (86-235) document that two watercolours were separated; the verso of each watercolour shows no inscription ; the two watercolours were housed in a back-to-back matte with windows on both sides at the time; in 2010 the watercolours were separated to be kept as two separate works (not called recto and verso); this was given the number 1982-114-1a.
