Remarks on his possibly taking an office in the new Ministry and on the possibility of Sir John Pakington making changes in Elgin's office; notes departure of Francis Hincks for London as beneficial to inform the Colonial Secretary, Hincks being a reliable man; asks that he introduce Hincks to the right people. Newspaper clipping dated 12 March 1852 reporting on the American Senate enclosed. A second clipping, dated St. John's, 26 November 1852 on rumors of a Cabinet shuffle, belongs elsewhere.
