Like the first part of the Office Vault (the Beatrice Eligh sub-series), the Office Vault Part 2 sub-series was used in Diefenbaker's office during his final years as an MP. Like the material in the Eligh series, most of the files date from Diefenbaker's years as prime minister and leader of the opposition.

This sub-series includes a substantial amount of material on the Munsinger scandal and the Progressive Conservative Party. Also of particular interest are files documenting Diefenbaker's Quebec connections (see Morin, Gerald; Lafontaine, Paul; and Johnson, Daniel), and his relations with the press (see Bassett, John; Dalgleish, Oakley; and Nicholson, Pat).

This sub-series consists mainly of subject files and nominal files, including at least one marked secret.

Subjects include, among others, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Board of Broadcast Governors, Cyprus, John G. Diefenbaker, Exchequer Court, the flag, Foreign Affairs, Fredericton Conference, House of Commons, immigration, O'Leary Commission Report, Prince Albert constituency organization, the Progressive Conservative Party in most Canadian provinces, Quebec, railway legislation, redistribution, St.Pierre and Miquelon, Social Credit, and Wheat Board.

This sub-series includes more than 80 files titled with names of individuals, including Rhéal Bélisle, Paul Lafontaine, Paul Martin, and Gérald Morin. The Rhéal Bélisle file is marked secret.

Custodial history:

Microfilm reels M-9415 to M-9418 were filmed between 2006-01-13 and 2006-03-21 by the Diefenbaker Centre, which supplied them to Library and Archives Canada.

Arrangement note:

Within this sub-series much of the material is organized in nominal files in alphabetical and chronological order.

Originals, located at the Diefenbaker Canada Centre, University of Sasatchewan, are arranged in volumes 89 to 95. Microfilm reel numbers M-9415 to M-9418 correspond to these volumes.
