The Advisory Committee on Standards (ACS) was established in 1998 as a result of corporate restructuring and operates out of the Standards Branch of the Standards Council of Canada and consists of eighteen members appointed by the Appointments Committee of the SCC and is led by a Chair and Vice-Chair.

ACS is responsible for advising and making recommendations to the Governing Council on policy matters relating to standards development, harmonization and the use of national, regional, and international standards. It also advises on changes to the National Standards System (NSS) and liaises with other SCC advisory committees on the effectiveness of the NSS. It encourages the promotion and implementation of National Standards of Canada (NSC). ACS also ensures the development and implementation of operational procedures for the standard development organization accreditation program and establishes and oversees task groups and sub-committees to handle the audit and assessment of standards development organizations participating in the program.

This sub-series consists of ACS meeting minutes, agendas and other supporting documents distributed to committee members, and also includes files created by ACS sub-committees, working groups and task groups.
