The Provincial-Territorial Advisory Committee (PTAC) was established in 1996 by Section 20(1) of the Standards Council of Canada Act and falls under the operations of the Intergovernmental Affairs and Trade Branch (IGAT) of the Standards Council of Canada.

The committee is responsible for advising and making recommendations to the Governing Council on matters related to voluntary standardization and conformity assessment that affect provinces and territories. It promotes cooperation and communication between the provinces, the territories and the Standards Council of Canada, and encourages provincial and territorial participation in the NSS and other SCC programs and activities.

The committee's membership consists of a representative appointed by each provincial and territorial government and is led by a Chair-Person and Vice-Chairperson appointed by the committee.

This sub-series consists of PTAC meeting minutes, agendas and other supporting documents distributed to committee members, and may also include files created by PTAC sub-committees, working groups and task groups.
