The Privy Seal is the personal seal adopted by the Governor General of Canada and the Administrator for the sealing of official documents that are signed by the Governor General that do not require to be sealed with the Great Seal of Canada.

Commissions issued under the Privy Seal are officers of the armed forces, of which the governor general is commander in chief, deputies of the governor general, and deputies of the administrator.

Documents issued under the Privy Seal are proclamations of the governor general's appointment; proclamations of the death of the sovereign; and certificates of authentification.
