Collection consists of a painting entitled "Placing the Colours of the 38th Battalion, C.E.F., on Wolfe's Monument, Westminster Abbey, 1917". Work by Emily M. B. Warren (1869-1956). This painting is a small preliminary version for the two large (6' x 11') paintings known as "Canada's Tribute" which hung in the Parliament Buildings, 1921-1947, and which were purchased by the Canadian government in 1948. These paintings are now at Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario. A preliminary study for the two large paintings was donated to the National Archives in 1973 (see acc. no. 1973-033). This acquisition is documented in RG 37 "C" Series, Vol. 334, file 1921-129.

This collection also includes a large-scale painting and colour reproductions and keys to the painting "Canada's Tribute" which depicts the laying of the colours of the Thirty-Eighth Battalion, C.E.F. on Wolfe's Monument, Westminster Abbey. The artist is Emily Warren. The small-scale version of the painting was acquired by the National Archives in 1920. See RG 37, "C" Series, Vol. 334, file 1920-129. The two large-scale paintings (6' x 11') which together make up the work entitled "Canada's Tribute" are also owned by the federal government which bought them in 1948 and placed them in the Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario.
