The donation consists of of four pen and ink diaries kept by architect John Snell, documenting through both writing and sketches, his personal and professional thoughts on the construction of the new Terminal One building at Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Ontario. The journals date from the beginning of the project in April, 1999 to the completion of Stage 1 in May 2004. The journals are approximately 9" high by 6"wide and have about 150 acid free pages each (some pages in the 4th are blank).

The donation is a rare glimpse, through both words and images, into the complex process of the construction of a modern public facility, such as Terminal One, at Pearson International Airport. Mr. Snell held the position of Quality Control Monitor, which is essentially one of problem-solving and liaising with the various parties of a construction project, giving that person in depth knowledge of almost every aspect of the design and construction. The journals includes notes on meetings attended, problems to be resolved, progress made, etc. which are part of the day to day agenda of such a large and complex construction project. In his position Mr. Snell met with architects, construction engineers and managers, the clients, and other involved in the project.
