A marine scene / landscape depicting a view of two single-masted fore and aft rigged sailing vessels with sails furled alongside a steamboat landing, probably at Charlotte near the mouth of the Genesee River. In the foreground, several planks of wood extend over the water from the shore. Planks of wood, probably for use as fuel, are placed in three orderly stacks further up the bank. Part of a road is visible behind the stacks. The shore is lined with trees and other vegetation. In the background the land rises gently away from the water.
