Reproduction of a painting by Scottish artist Robert Gibb, depicting a scene of the Crimean War. As the battle rages on, a prominent figure stands at the centre of the scene, wearing a long grey coat and black hat, holding a sword.

Lieutenant H.W. Verschoyle proudly holds aloft the battered flag of his regiment while the Duke of Cambridge can be seen in the right background welcoming the Guards.

Custodial history:

Exact provenance is unknown, but an inscription on the verso indicates that this item was "Presented to the Rideau Club by Capt. H. Graham". This may be Gen. Howard Graham (1898-1986) - see acc. no. 1993-177.
