This album presents a variety of cuttings from British and North American periodicals, pasted down or sewn over the pages of an exercise book originally used by Thomas C. Bruce during his studies at Paris. The subjects extend to matters not directly related to Lord Elgin and the contents include two manuscript items (pages 85-87 and 100-101). The clippings frequently leave portions of the original text visible.Several items were sewn into "windows" cut out of the original pages, in order to leave both sides of a leaf visible. Some original pages remain uncovered by clippings; all pages were numbered.
