The fonds comprises the personal papers of Grace Gordon relating to her friendship with the philosopher George Grant and his wife Sheila Grant. The fonds primarily consists of letters exchanged between Gordon and the Grants, particularly after his departure from McMaster University and Hamilton in 1980 to Dalhousie University in Halifax. Some of the subjects discussed range from health worries and family affairs to the abortion issue and Canadian politics. The fonds also includes greeting cards, offprints of Grant's publications inscribed to Gordon, a typescript draft of an article on euthanasia by George and Sheila Grant, and memorials and tributes to Grant after his death in 1988.

Gordon, Grace, 1927- : Grace Gordon (nee Richards) was born in 1927. She was the senior secretary in the Department of Religious Studies at McMaster University, where she worked from 1968 to 1992. She developed a close working relationship and personal friendship with the philosopher George Grant, typing his manuscripts and assisting him in his work. They remained friends after his departure to Dalhousie University in 1980 and corresponded regularly.
