Physical description note:

Painting depicts sleigh drawn by two horses c., a dog and a man on showshoes c.r. and a log cabin with a sign on it inscribed: STORE POST OFFICE c.r. The Post Office has three white [mail ?] sacks set on the front porch. Painting is mounted in wood frame: 50.4 x 60.0 x 4.7 cm, painted antique white.

Conservation:

Coroplast backing has been attached to verso of painting. No Conservation report attached.

Inscribed on brass plaque attached to b.c. of frame: NORTHERN MAIL / BY / C DONOVAN - INSPECTOR ONTARIO / POSTAL REGION - JAN 1973 ; in pen and blue ink, on museum tag found with painting: "NORTHERN / MAIL" / BY C. DONOVAN / INSPECTOR ONTARIO / POSTAL REGION / JAN 1973
