This sub-sub-series concerns the 1990 Liberal Party leadership race, which allowed Jean Chrétien to become party leader, then Leader of the Official Opposition and, ultimately, Canada's 20th Prime Minister. Its files document the directions in which the new leader planned to take the Liberal Party of Canada, which led it to power.

The sub-sub-series consists of correspondence, speeches, letters of support from Canadian citizens, various Liberal Party membership and contact lists, press clippings, news releases, and a range of reference materials on campaign strategy and organization, policy issues and political support.
