Collection search - Biggar Via Rail train accident investigation [multiple media]

This accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the detachment of the RCMP in Biggar Saskatchewan. In 1997 a Via Rail train derailed near the community, causing one fatality. The materials held here represent the investigation carried out by the RCMP into the accident, and includes copies of various textual items, VHS videos and photographs of the accident site, as well as an audiotape copy of an interview with one of the individuals involved in the accident. Some of the material would have been submitted to the Transportation Safety Board investigation into the accident, an investigation which resulted in several changes to rail policies, but others would no doubt reflect unique coverage of the accident.
