The item is an oral history sound recording of a group interview (59 min, 50 s), moderated by Kelly Moore, with many of the key participants in the development of the History of the Book in Canada project databases, including Patricia Fleming, Bertrum MacDonald, Fiona Black, Paul Aubin, Judy Donnelly, and Andrea Trevor. The discussion covers the origins of the project, the inspiration behind the research databases component to the larger book history project, the challenges of creating research databases in both English and French under a tight timetable, project methodology, its influence on continuing book history scholarship in Canada, and the role of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada in supporting the project financially.

Oral history of the History of the Book in Canada project databases : The oral history of the History of the Book in Canada project databases was created on the event of the launch of the five Book History databases on the Library and Archives Canada web site by the Documentary Heritage Collection Sector. Kelly Moore conducted a joint interview with several key members of the Book History project team on the day of the launch, 27 May 2009, at Library and Archives Canada. The sound recording was made by Jean-Paul Moreau.
