Sub-series consists primarily of drawings produced by Norman Wallace Dobell during his time with Grisenthwaite Construction Company (1959-1963) and by the architectural firms Norman W. Dobell was associated with, namely, Prack & Prack (1964-72) and Prack Partners (1973-1980) - both in Hamilton, Ontario; Norman Dobell Architect Limited (1980-1985), Wright Dobell Architects (1986-1991), and Norman Dobell Associates (1991-1995) - all in Calgary, Alberta.

The sub-series consists of 192 projects pertaining to several areas of architecture: master planning for urban renewal and land use; private sector, including commercial, educational and religious facilities and residential houses, government projects at the federal, provincial and municipal levels as well as some international projects.

This sub-series contains examples of Dobell's work as a residential architect. Commercial projects include shopping malls, stores, office buildings, bus terminals. The accession also holds several examples of athletic facilities (e.g., University of Toronto, University of Calgary, Saskatoon Field House, and schools, e.g., Thickwood Heights High School (Fort McMurray, AB), Woking School (Woking, AB), Timberlea Elementary School (Fort McMurray, AB), Father Lacombe High School (Calgary, AB)). Government projects include the Hamilton Regional Detention Centre (Hamilton, ON), an aviation services building (Calgary, AB), Springbank Airport Tower (Springbank, AB) and field camps for oil companies (Northwest Territories). Two examples of hospitals (St. Joseph's Hospital in Guelph, ON and Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington, ON) are also contained in this accession.
