Consists mainly of unique, hand drawn Forest-cover maps prepared by Federal Forestry officials between 1910 and 1970, including working copies, scribes, negatives and plates, and with scattered coverage across the country; other items include topographic maps, maps produced by provincial agencies, and operational maps for federal and provincial Forest reserves. A certain number of non-maps-Forestry reports, timber properties, and the like, are also represented.

The maps are arranged in numerical order by item number. About two-thirds of the maps are ordered following the N.T.S. grid system (items through 2235; the remainder are in alphabetical order, first by province, then by exact location, although this is by no means consistent).

There are no restrictions on access to the maps, other than copyright on published items, and the statement of restriction printed on certain items produced by the Department of National Defence; the latter must not be shown or reproduced without prior approval from DND.

You can order materials in advance to be ready for you when you visit. You will need a user card to do this.
