UNESCO Picasso-Miró medal awarded to Oscar Peterson on 10 November 2000, as part of the IMC-UNESCO International Music Prize. The artist who designed the medal, Joan Miró, described the imagery on the obverse of the medal as follows: "In the centre, an eye, like the eye of Picasso, deep-set and alert, surrounded by magical and musical inscriptions." The imagery on the reverse shows a landscape with a single tree and a star.

Statement of responsibility note:

The Picasso-Miró medal was commissioned by the General Conference of UNESCO to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Pablo Picasso. It designed by Joan Miró, and Joan Gardy Artigas made the model from which the medal was struck.
