Accession consists of generally unorganized technical drawings pertaining to railway equipment: locomotives and rolling stock. Accession also includes architectural drawings and maps. Major Canadian and United States railway operators and railway equipment manufacturers are represented. A significant block of Jamaican Government Railway drawings is also available. Many drawings are concerned with lettering.

The following four categories are discernable:

1. Folded blueprints re. the Toronto, Hamilton an Buffalo Railway (3000 items)
2. Rolled plans, primarily Canadian (700 items)
3. Rolled plans, primarily non-Canadian (1250 items)
4. Folded plans, primarily non-Canadian (2000 items)

Duplication of drawing exists. Condition of drawings varies from fair to poor and very poor (some are either torn to shreds, covered in soot, stained with motor oil, attacked by mould or almost totally faded away)
