Series consists of three sub-series containing plans and drawings of projects carried out in Ottawa and Rockliffe between 1980 and 1937; projects pertaining almost exclusively to schools built between 1907 and 1959 for the Collegiate Board of Education; and of projects carried out in Ottawa between 1890 and 1960 including the Royal Ottawa Sanatorium, Ottawa Public Library, Ottawa Civic Hospital, Ottawa Technical High School along with other businesses and residences.

Ewart, J. Albert, 1872-1964 : John Albert Ewart (1872 - 1964) was a Canadian architect, was an Ottawa architect and son of Chief Dominion Architect David Ewart. Ewart studied at the University of Toronto in the 1890s and moved to Ottawa to practice with King Arnoldi in 1895 and Burrit & Meredith in 1904. Ewart died in 1964. List of buildings designed by Ewart include: Booth Building, 1910-11, Transportation Building, 1916, Hunter Building, 1917-20, Metropolitan Life Building, 1924-27 (associate of Waid), Ottawa Electric Building, 1926-27, Victoria Building, 1927-28, Architect of Ottawa Collegiate Institute Board. He had strong interest in American Beaux-Arts architecture (donated Gréber's 1920 book to Ottawa Public Library).
