Series consists of material from three separate sub-series. Maps cover primarily the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers region. Also included are maps of other regions of Canada, the United States, Jamaica, Europe and Japan. Many maps pertain to Herbert Herridge's political career as a Member of Parliament for Kootenay West, or reflect his involvement in the Standing Committee on External Affairs, the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Forestry & Rural Development, the Standing Committee on Veteran's Affairs or his opposition to the Columbia River Treaty. Also included are soil survey maps, a world aeronautical chart of Lake Louise and an electoral map of Kootenay West, British Columbia

Series is accompanied by 2 reports: Soil Survey of the Upper Kootenay and Elk River Valleys (Report No.5 of the British Columbia Soil Survey), by C.C. Kelly and P.N. Sprout, 1956 / Soil Survey of the Upper Columbia River Valley (Report No. 7 of the British Columbia Soil Survey), by C.C Kelly and W.D. Holland, 1961. Both reports were published by the B.C. Dept. of Agriculture
