This series pertains to Fischman's various professional activities and projects. Included are materials documenting Fischman's role as the Literary Editor of the Montreal Star from 1977 to 1978, and her involvement in working groups and awards juries for the Writer's Union of Canada, Friends of the Canada Council, YTV Achievement Awards, and W.O. Mitchell Prize committee. The files contain typescripts of articles and reviews written by Fischman for La Presse, the Gazette, L'Actualité, Liberté, Maclean's, and the Globe and Mail, and document her contributions to the Supplement to the Oxford Companion to Canadian History and Literature (1972) and the New Oxford Companion to Canadian Literature (1982), in part through her correspondence with editors and publishers such as William Toye, Richard Teleky, and Jean Paré.

The series also contains publicity material concerning Fischman's translated texts; these consist primarily of newspaper and magazine clippings, as well as promotion material for the Governor General's Literary Awards 1994 (for which Fischman's translation of The Sound of Living Things by Élise Turcotte was nominated).
