Item is a self-portrait of Rosalie Favell. To create this work, Métis artist Rosalie Favell digitally manipulated the painting The Artist in His Museum (by Charles Willson Peale, 1822), to question how museums display Indigenous culture. By inserting herself into the image and inviting the public to view her family photographs, Favell claims control over the presentation of her own narrative and that of Indigenous peoples.
